This album begins in Cash's career, a new stage, the last stage, and perhaps one that allowed him access to the total claim, immortality and the final love of his legion of fans, increased markedly from these perfonances simple but sentidad and emotional. The move by American Cash, is the main characteristic of the "minimalist" music, ie the least amount of instruments and musical arrangements, to be reduced in this disc, only two components: an acoustic guitar, and the voice of Cash. - With these two simple elements, enough to make a cd simply excellent.
Another feature of the passage of Cash by American, is the reflective tone, and some dark, of their songs. These characteristics are evidenced in much of this CD. There is no doubt that age (advanced) which reaches American Cash for these recordings, and his delicate health, assist in these shadow and reflective songs become more credibility if they came from a young man. There is agreement: Winter of life, and winter of his music.
The covers of American, also come together in this equation: dark and without color, all black and white. Also minimal aesthetics. At the same time affirming the CASH logo in upper case, as the only description, not even necessary to the artist.
On this album, which originally was called American Recordings (not "American I", the numbers came later, when they were released others), has many powerful songs, as mentioned, characterized by thoughtful style.
One of them is a combination of two themes: "Cowboys Prayers" and "Oh bury me not", unit in a single song with the name of the second. A sensational gospel theme, where the guitar brilliantly accompanies the prayers of Cash. It gives me the strongest theme of the disc.
The same goes for Tennessee Stud, recorded in studios, but with cheers and applause from those who were present. -
Another high point is the great country blues "Bird on a Wire", which reflects on the contradictions and contrasts that life offers to those who are already concluding.
Also the gospel "Why me Lord" is highlighted in a context of 13 (actually 14) tracks very strong, where it is difficult to leave a mention outside.
"Drive On" refers to Vietnam, and wounds that questioned war left much of the American people.
Here, no doubt with the mark: 10 points. - The maximum. -
Este disco comienza en la carrera de Cash, una nueva etapa; su última etapa, y quizá, aquella que le permitió acceder a la reivindicación total, a la inmortalidad y al cariño definitivo de su legión de fans, incrementada notoriamente a partir de estas perfonances sencillas, pero sentidad y emotivas. El paso de Cash por American, tiene la principal característica del llamado "minimalismo" musical; esto es, la menor cantidad posible de instrumentos y arreglos musicales, para reducirse, en este disco, a dos únicos componentes: una guitarra acústica, y la voz de Cash.- Con estos dos sencillos elementos, bastaron para realizar un cd sencillamente excelente.
Otra de las características del paso de Cash por American, es el tono reflexivo, y para algunos sombrío, de sus canciones. Estas características son evidenciadas en buena parte de este CD. No hay duda alguna que la edad (avanzada) a la que Cash llega a American para estas grabaciones, así como su delicado estado de salud, colaboran en que estas canciones sombrias y reflexivas adquieran mayor credibilidad que si vinieran de un joven. Hay coincidencia: invierno de la vida, e invierno de su música.
Las portadas de American, también se conjugan en esta ecuación: oscuras y sin colores, todas en blanco y negro. Minimalismo estético también. A la par que se afirma el logotipo CASH en mayusculas, como única descripción; ni siquiera es necesario el nombre del artista.
En cuanto a este disco, que en su origen se llamó American Recordings (No "American I", la numeración llegó después, cuando se editaron otros), tiene muchas canciones impactantes, como dijimos, caracterizadas por su estilo reflexivo.
Una de ellas, es la conjunción de dos temas: "Cowboys prayers" y "Oh bury me not", unidad en una sóla canción con el nombre de la segunda. Un tema gospel sensacional, donde la guitarra acompaña magistralmente las plegarias de Cash. Es para mí, el tema más fuerte del disco.
Lo mismo vale para Tennessee Stud, grabada en estudios, pero con ovaciones y aplausos de los que estaban allí presentes.-
Otro punto muy alto, es el genial country blues "Bird on a wire", que reflexiona acerca de las contradicciones y contrastes que la vida ofrece a quien está ya por concluirla.
También el gospel "Why me Lord" se destaca en un contexto de 13 (en realidad 14) canciones muy fuertes, donde es difícil dejar una afuera de la mención.
"Drive On" remite a Vietnam, y las heridas que esa cuestionada guerra dejó en buena parte del pueblo norteamericano.
Aquí, no hay dudas con la calificación: 10 puntos.- El máximo.-
